In the village, there are small shops such as the Boulanagerie (bakery), Boucherie (butcher), Tabac (newsagent), Post Office, cafés, restaurants and a small supermarket. Markets selling fresh produce are also held in the village square.
Along the Canal du Midi (built in the 1600s and recently declared a world heritage site by UNESCO) there is a path for relaxing, shady walks. Boat rental is also available.
4k away is the historic town of Beziers with its cathedral, museums, shops and markets – the beautiful flower market is on Friday. Towards the coast, Cap d’Agde, about 10k away is a resort with Aqualand, boulevard, discotheques and a beautiful beach. Three other lovely Mediterranean beaches – Portiragne Plage, Valras Plage and Serignan Plage are all close by.
Languedoc is a fascinating area of France. There are so many historic towns and fortresses, National Parks and wildlife reserves to visit. The food is special and, of course, there is always the wine tasting!
