Agde is a town with a lot of history. Greeks and Romans had a big influence on this town in the past. In the ancient centre you'll find medieval-type houses with wooden carved out doors and stone doorsteps. The centre nowadays is a wonderful shopping centre.
The cathedral is on the bank of the river and was built with black volcanic rocks and is nicknamed « La Perle Noire ». (The black Pearl). On the Esplanade you'll find nice outdoor cafés and restaurants. Large supermarkets are on the main roads in the direction of Cap d'Agde and Sète. At Grau d'Agde the river Herault floats into the sea. And of course there are the lovely beaches in this seaside resort.
